Delaware Mandates Workplace Sexual Harassment Prevention Training

Compliance with Delaware’s Harassment Prevention Training requirements can be confusing and time-consuming.

Delaware employers with 4 or more employees must conduct two hours of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training. Employers include the state, the General Assembly, state agencies, and labor organizations. New Staff Employees must be trained within 1 year of commencement of employment and then every 2 years thereafter; training not required until the employee employed for 6 months continuously. Existing staff employees must be trained every 2 years. New supervisors must be trained within 1 year of commencement of employment as a supervisor and then every 2 years.

The content of the training sessions includes these subjects:

  • Legal definitions and time lines

  • Practical steps to take to report harassment

  • Management session with how to respond to a complaint, be an effective role model, and resolve employee issues
