Illinois Requirements for Harassment Prevention

Illinois has the highest standards in the country in terms of frequency and content. Here is a listing of the mandates in the state of Illinois, and specifically in Chicago.

Here's a summary of Illinois requirements -- are you in compliance?

  1. Illinois requires harassment prevention training every year. New Hires should be trained as they are hired to ensure they know the standards and how to report harassment.

  2. Employers must distribute the IDHR state poster and training in accessible formats for disabilities or language.EEOC posters are also mandated in every work location (office, floor, for remote workers).

  3. Your policy must include specific verbiage about discrimination and harassment and provide contact information to employees for reporting a complaint

  4. You must have solid complaint handling procedures.

  5. Chicago employers have even higher standards, including a special poster, mandated managerial training and Active Bystander Intervention training. Here's some information on Chicago.

  6. Other states have similar requirements, so you will need to be aware of those mandates. Our trianing portal includes eight state-specific version in addition to Illinois, plus a National and Internationa version for multi-state or global employers.

We can help.  We have all the documents you need, present the training on one consolidated platform, and maintain your training records and certificates of completion.  We even provide all the posters, free sample policies, and free investigations training included in the annual subscription fee (which averages under $10 per employee).  We can work seamlessly with your LMS with our SCORM-compliant content. We will even provide a draft email to get your employee started immediately!
