Active Bystander Intervention Training
As more and more organizations face cases of harassment, more localities and states are mandating preventative steps. While harassment prevention training is not required in all states, the EEOC strongly encourages all employers to conduct training as part of its prevention and response program.
On the cutting-edge is the City of Chicago — which now requires all employers to conduct Active Bystander Intervention Training in addition to annual Harassment Prevention Training. Chicago also expanded the requirements to include an additional hour of training for managers.
i2i Workplace provides mandatory harassment prevention training for various states including California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Washington, National, and US/International. The training consists of one hour for staff (with a segment on state-specific requirements) and one hour for managers. Each session includes video segments, case studies, and a test. A certificate of completion is awarded upon successful passing of the test. Employers receive a dedicated webpage with the training records posted for easy access, messaging, and tracking of records.
The Active Bystander Intervention course is recommended for ALL clients, whether the training is required or not. Although it may not be mandated throughout the US, this simple Active Bystander Training can make a huge difference to diffuse and de-escalate a situation in the moment. This training is part of any employer’s prevention and response program to improve workplace conduct and avoid liability. The one-hour video-based course, with case studies and a test, includes certificates of completion and records management and is provided at a low-cost annual subscription (based on number of employees, but averaging $10 per employee).
We also provide a free Employee Investigations training to ensure a consistent response to complaints of harassment.
Our goal is to present commonsense information in a streamlined manner to ensure knowledge and comprehension. For more information on harassment prevention training click here.
